Born in Toronto in 1957 under the name Metro Sportswear, the company changed it in 1985 to Snow Goose, and finally in the 90's the brand settled on what we all now know as Canada Goose. Originally a manufacturer of insulated wool-based products, in the 1970's Canada Goose dove into the production of down winter jackets for men and women. Having a large portion of their clientele located in Northern Canada and other frigid environments, the brand has a background in creating insulated pieces, like the Expedition Parka, that can withstand any cold climate. Police officers, construction workers and cameramen and actors/actresses from Hollywood all swear by Canada Goose when working in the North.
The classic down jacket models will be timeless: Trillium, Chilliwack, Kensington, Montebello, Chateau, Borden Bomber, and Hybridge jacket, are just the tip of the iceberg. They have also expanded into accessories such as down-filled gloves for men and women and down-filled mitts for men and women. Another huge success was their line of beanies and pilot hats for men and women.
Today Canada Goose is one of the biggest producers of insulated down jackets in the world, being distributed in over 40 countries, and the jackets are still proudly made in Canada. In an age where production is being outsourced to keep prices down, Canada Goose has firmly planted its roots in our fine nation.
I bought this coat a few weeks ago. I love the fit, it looks great and it is super comfortable!!! The arms are not warm though - especially from the elbow down. It breaks the wind - but it is not as warm as I expected. It has not been 20 below since I purchased it and am concerned for when it does dip to lower temperatures I will need to add a layer - which is not why I bought a Canada Goose coat. I knew I was compromising a bit with buying the rating to 20 below product (for looks and comfort) - but did not expect to feel the chill at minus 10.The zipper does not stay connected at the bottom very well and some how I feel it won't hold up too well.
Will purchase more for my family Pretty awesome! Also recommended to my friends
We did a lot of research before our trip to Whistler, BC in order to stay warm. We are from a mild climate that typically isn't very cold so we needed something so we wouldn't be miserable while exploring Whistler. Although I didn't love the price tag at first, I understand now why it's so expensive. This coat exceeded my expectations. Never once was I cold when I was wearing it. I liked it so much, I want to buy a shorter, less bulky one to wear in my hometown.
